Beyond the Bottom Line: How Benefits-Led Programmes Create Value for Society - 11:35 - 12:00
At a time when our society faces unprecedented challenges, the concept of value for money is evolving to encompass more than just the outputs from new infrastructure assets. There is a growing emphasis to realise broader benefits and societal outcomes established in Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategies that are intrinsically linked to organisational objectives and purpose.
Clients need to evolve their overarching strategic ambitions whilst maintaining progress in the delivery of projects and programmes, ensuring there is a clear demonstration of the value that is being generated. Conventional approaches to delivering benefits from a commercial perspective need to evolve to keep pace with this rapidly changing, higher risk environment. In this address we will present an evolution to the traditional model and the benefits that this approach could bring to your infrastructure projects.

The Second National Infrastructure Assessment - 12:05 - 12:30
The UK’s 2nd National Infrastructure Assessment is the National Infrastructure Commission’s (NIC’s) five-yearly look at the UK’s biggest infrastructure goals over the next 20-30 years, and what we need to do from now onwards to achieve them. It focuses on 3 big strategic challenges: promoting productivity and economic growth across all regions; supporting the transition to net zero; and improving climate resilience and the state of the natural environment. The assessment makes costed recommendations to government across the range of economic infrastructure in the NIC’s remit, covering public and private spending and related policy requirements from mass transit to heat pumps, waste management to climate resilience.
The presentation will give an overview of the assessment including over-arching, cross-cutting and sector-specific recommendations and where those involved in infrastructure planning, commissioning, delivery and provision fit into this picture

Keynote Address - 12:35 - 13:00
The New Hospital Programme is the biggest hospital building programme in a generation. It is a dramatic shift in the way we deliver major healthcare projects in England, building hospitals that will transform the health sector and set new standards for the way we build future social infrastructure. We will create world-class health facilities through innovation and collaboration, empowering clinical professionals to deliver the best possible care for patients.
We are replacing outdated infrastructure with modern, innovative, and environmentally sustainable buildings to provide top-class healthcare services and facilities for patients, staff and local communities. Digital technology will change the way healthcare is delivered in these facilities. Smart technology will reduce basic and repetitive tasks and free up time for patient care. Our mission is to help NHS Trusts to provide high-quality, sustainable care for patients, deliver intelligent hospitals, develop national capability, and build better, build faster and build a sustainable legacy.
